    Derby County

    Derbyshire Live Reporting:

Derby County are hoping a takeover of the club can be completed this week.

Completion of the deal would then see those players and senior staff who have not been paid in full for December, paid, as DerbyshireLive reported on Sunday.

Now Sky Sports is reporting that Derby's chief executive Stephen Pearce today told the first-team squad the club cannot currently afford to pay the players their outstanding wages from December, but they are working to address the problem.

One more of the so called massive clubs in a bit of a pickle. Recently reported to be interested in Alex Mowett !

Remember their fans singing to us at their place when we were relegated something like “we won’t be seeing you again”

Derby will look to sell a number of their most talented young players this month to help them deal with their financial problems.

While Derby have no plans to sell any of the senior players that interim manager Wayne Rooney considers an integral part of the first team, the club is looking to generate significant funds from its academy graduates to bring in some much-needed cash.

Sky Sports News has been told that - even though Derby's most senior players have not received a penny of their salaries since the end of November - club officials are confident those overdue wages will be paid in full in the next few days.

If they've not been paid why don't they go on strike or sue for breach of contract even declare contract null and void and walk away.
