    O/T Stranded hearse

Although I live 200-300 miles away I was reading the Rotherham news today on our telly and came across a story about a hearse that was stranded, stuck in the snow today on its way to the crematorium. Mourning relatives were obviously upset but then local people and passers-by came to help throwing grit under the wheels and pushing before someone in a 4x4 stopped and gave it a tow to the crem where they waited till the end of the service and then helped the elderly mourners to their vehicle. It warms your cockles to be reminded how good-hearted and helpful folks from the old homeland still are. (Despite all out arguments and differences of opinion)

Indeed, great stuff. Someone posted a photo of the hearse on Facebook, surely Ridgeway should get priority gritting seeing as it leads to the Crem?

And still a major bus route. Brilliant to see someone's loved one get the dignity it required. Well done to all those involved.

My daughter lives on Ridgeway and my 3 year old grandson thought it was brilliant viewing. He stood in the window most of the day.
The Gritter did turn up but couldnít get up the road. It didnít have the plough on.

The lad with the Land Rover spent most of the day towing stranded cars up the hill. I hope he made himself a few quid.

I wouldíve thought the sensible thing to do would be to postpone the funeral before it had started.

There are certain faiths that won't accept postponements, the funeral has to be done quickly
