I don't want to be continually on Sawyers' back or make him a scapegoat but he does really need to be rested. He appears slow physically and mentally and, in my opinion, is too lightweight for the job that he is there to do. Livermore was pretty nondescript as well but at present is a better bet than Sawyers as he is physically stronger.
I thought that Button did OK today.

He does seem to struggle. A couple of passes today looked like he had a serious eyesight problem. Gave lots of balls away and seemed second to every ball. I can see him being replaced by Sam at some point.

Thought Button looked more comfortable with crosses than Johnstone so well done to him! Snodgrass and Grosicki looked decent.

Livermore and Sawyers need dropping!! Gallagher back next game so one must go!!!

Given the choice...Sawyers or Livermore to play, surely one must pick Livermore ?

I agree Prando but to be honest Livermore is consistently NOT good enough either. Snodgrass, Gallagher and bring in one other and adios to both of them!!!

Livermore was singled out yesterday on match of the day as being solid, and so was sawyers. There is always more than one opinion. So who’s right? It depends what you see. Trouble is if you don’t like a player you can tend to look for the negative to reinforce your belief using expressions like “he always” or “he never” when often most players do good things and bad things in a game. This is why I personally hate knee jerk reactions, because generally they are too reactive and thoughtless.

Quite right Boingy, if you look at the game as a whole without pre conceived prejudice Sawyers made some critical contributions, his running style makes him look slower than he is, I have often criticised his performances, I watched yesterday’s game again last night and focussed on Sawyers which was worth doing, he did well, also in most games due to our setup (correctly IMO) we have one less midfielder In the centre hence lots of pressure on the CDM. Let’s see how he progresses under Allardyce...

Jermain Jenas did not exactly set the world alight! Sawyers did do a few good things but his passing was poor and that chance he had should have been at least on target with the space he had! Are we saying 95% of West Brom fans are wrong on their opinion of Sawyers? Livermore can do the job but he consistently goes missing 2 games out of every 3 - that's a fact!
