Next lot of government money going to be in the form of loans rather than grants.

As some NL clubs would prefer to furlough players than take on more debt, this could ‘spell the end of the season’.

The way things are going I can see our next season being in a brand new league formed with the likes of York City, Boston United, Wrexham, Stockport, Chesterfield and whichever clubs have semi-competent and decent owners. The National League isn't fit to run an under-8s division.

    Good question.

I don’t know who promised that the government money would be in the form of purely grants rather than loans, but it’s going to shaft clubs at our level and below.

National League need to take a stance and make some decisions. Maybe they should negotiate another month of grants or if loans make them like student loans only repayable subject to income and then stop the season until the end of Feb. Restart again and extend to end of June, have a foreshortened summer and kick on again in August.

Either that or just cancel the season, whatever, they just need to make a decision of some kind.

Unfortunately we're seeing the result of the season being okayed when people thought we were through the worst of things and that fans would be allowed to return (even in small numbers). It's easy to say with hindsight but the season should never have started without agreement with the government for the full season and support for mass testing to ease the fixture pile up.

I think the season is likely nearly over and while I'm 90% confident Notts will be fine this will be terrible for a lot of clubs.

It was a farce to start the season but that is what happens when dipsh*ts are running the league
I know the people (I was tempted to use another word) who have the responsibility for running this league will be on a fraction of the salary of the Premiership bigwigs, but I'm sure they're not exactly on minimum wage either. I've just been on the NL website and all you get is a bit about the FA Trophy and how Boreham Wood have sold a player for a record fee. Absolutely nothing about how they plan to complete the season, what actions they are putting in place to tackle the ever-increasing fixture backlog, and what measures they have in mind to keep struggling clubs in existence. Nothing, absolutely nothing at all. So far the only thing they have done in the covid crisis is to make a complete f@ck-up of the government funding if it was meant to compensate lost gate revenue.

I realise this is an unprecedented crisis with no easy answers, but those running the National League have been worse than useless.

    Explain your logical fallacy.

    1) Does not matter if it is fif**** or fifty years old, the facts are the same.

    2) Karry Mullis invented the test, the rest is explained by himself as self explanatory

    3) How can the man in his own words be 'out of context'

    4) You can not say who is 'welcomed' or not. On the basis of posting a video from a Nobel prize winning scientist.

    5) Cognitive Dissonance: The term cognitive dissonance is used to describe the mental discomfort that results from holding two conflicting beliefs, values, or attitudes. People tend to seek consistency in their attitudes and perceptions, so this conflict causes feelings of unease or discomfort. This inconsistency between what people believe and how they behave motivates people to engage in actions that will help minimize feelings of discomfort. People attempt to relieve this tension in different ways, such as by rejecting, explaining away, or avoiding new information.

I think the league will be cut short, saw the below on Oliver Bayliss twitter (not sure if its been posted already, apologies if it has). I'm not clear if it's further funding or includes historic, assuming it is further, but if funding is loans to clubs not grants then a lot will just want to cut short and furlough players.
From a football prospective I hated the thought of us playing in this league, but actually came to terms with it and enjoyed going to the games last season.

Though what I didn't realise was what a shambles the governance is, end of last season a shambles, delaying the start of this season a shambles, distributing the govs money a shambles, no guidelines I can see on calling off games a shambles, I'm sure there's many more but the sooner we get promoted the better.

No way league can go to PPG at this stage, that would just be ludicrous. Either secure a proper deal with the government for means based grant funding and free regular covid testing for all clubs or just scrap the season.

The biggest failure in all of this is the NL inability to clarify a strategy at the start of the season. Shambles.
