    If the Premier League dishes out punishments for this cosy ‘arrangement’, then surely it is West Ham that should bear the brunt of that punishment, after all, it must have been them that insisted upon it?

    Yes but if we wanted the player we had to, that makes West Ham the instigators; assuming that it is true.

    I didn’t say that there was no blame on WBA (again, assuming the story is true) but that as West Ham must have been the instigators of the restriction, then any penalty should reflect that fact.

    Always thought that was the rule anyway, that a loan player couldn't play against his registered club ??
