    The pitch

There was talk of recent relaying. I haven't yet seen anywhere whether it was a partial or a full relay. Maybe one of you knows?

Whether full or partial, after 2 games this (partially?) new pitch is cutting up rough. Not anything like the "billiard baize" surface today's players are used to. It shows. Knight and Jozwiak had difficulty controlling the ball. Others were affected to a lesser extent.

It's not quite BBG standard but it's getting there slowly.

Can anybody throw any light on the issue?

Probably tactically wise to have another BBG style pitch as we fight relegation through the bleak days of February and March. A great leveller

Awful-looking today. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

I'd be getting the firm back who sold it to us,I believe we have the same surface on a few pitches at Moor Farm too so wonder how they're holding up, anyway while we're minding the pitch forest are minding the gap currently in a relegation scrap, result!

There is an unsubstantiated rumour flying around that the Groundsmen have been furloughed and the work had been contracted out to the council. If true, it makes no sense, IMO. Surely having a professional Groundsman is vi-tal, isn't it?

Derby County are now playing on the most technologically advanced playing surface in the UK, having installed a brand new*SISGrass hybrid pitch*before the start of the 2016-2017 season.

The laser-guided installation took only five days to complete with two machines working round the clock – our fastest ever hybrid pitch installation. As well as the iPro Stadium, the club had*SISGrass*installed on four of their training ground pitches, after seeing the benefits at St. George’s Park, the training facilities of the England national football team.

...."We’re delighted to be able to provide Derby County Football Club with a new hybrid pitch. The players will feel more stability on the grass and it will recover faster, meaning the pitch’s quality will be consistent all year round."....

Phil Blackwell, SIS Pitches UK Project Director

I'm begining to wonder if we've let the pitch become like it is as a leveler, no point having a snooker table of a pitch to play on only to have the visiting team come and give you a footballing lesson, much better get them playing on a surface they're not used to while we obviously play on it every week

I'm certain a previous manager of ours said the same

He certainty did, but then again he had the likes of Kevin Hector, who's feet barely seemed to touch the ground, playing on it. The logi didn't work so well with Mick Brolly

Whatever the state of our pitch, you're going to get a good hiding on Saturday.
