The time has come to impose a salary cap on players of 30K a week! Still ten times more than a skilled surgeon!

Barcelona probably don’t give poor little WBA a second thought. It’s like big companies who don’t pay their small suppliers on time, often not paying until months later; the big creditors get paid, usually, but the small ones are often treated disgracefully. I don’t suppose football clubs are any different.

In the NFL each team has a salary cap of $175m which cannot be exceeded, this is for a roster of 53 players.

The Quarter Back earns the big bucks, the top QB’s earn around $38m.

The teams have to juggle the squad around the big chunks that go to the top three or four players.

The team owners are fabulously wealthy but this makes no difference, your budget is $175m and you live within those means.

It's like everything else in this country, we go at it at half c ock. The financial fair play rule in the Premier League isn't worth the paper it's written on; too many loopholes. What is required is a maximum amount that can be paid for an individual player and the maximum for a club over a season. Points should be deducted as a punishment. This would make it a more level playing field. Of course this will never happen as the 'big boys' would make sure that it didn't.

I agree that the only way to make football at the top level “interesting” to all clubs is to set a salary cap. Would help stop clubs going bust by over spending and even up competition .....
