The danger is he listens to all the praise coming Jones' way, thinks 'I'm not having that' (whether through jealousy, arrogance, embarrassment or a mixture of all three) and reverts back to his way.

I think Jones will be reporting back direct to Ashley’s lieutenants so his authority will be diminished more and more as time goes on, especially if the new fellah gets a few quick points on the board.
