Barrow points target to finish with one point more than 23rd place in League Two

In League Two in the last ten seasons the average number of points needed to finish one point ahead of 23rd place was 45 points.

45 points were enough in five of the ten seasons.
46 points were enough in five of the ten seasons.
47 points were enough in seven of the ten seasons.
48 points were enough in eight of the ten seasons.
49 points were enough in eight of the ten seasons.
50 points were enough in eight of the ten seasons.
51 points were enough in nine of the ten seasons.

At Barrow's current ratio of points per game they would finish on 46 points.

For these overall figures the unfinished last season was converted to 46 games by using the points per game ratio for each team, multiplied by 46.

Forget Barrow, what about us? We have 43 points with 17 games left. To get to 52 points we need 9 points but we won’t get them on our current form. Something needs to change.

This season's bottom 2 are so far worse than the average bottom two over the years.
I am expecting Grimsby Town to finish bottom. From now onwards let's give Southend United and Barrow one point per game (which they have thus far not managed). That makes Southend United 23rd on 42 points. So I think that we are already OK.

Given our current record of 1 point from 7 matches I am confident that we can manage another 2 points from 17 matches to put the issue beyond doubt.

But to counter the above it could be that in the final 10 matches for Barrow and Southend United if they play some matches against 12th place that is distant in points terms from 7th place they will be well motivated against a less motivated opposition. Similarly if they play some matches against 16th place that is distant in points terms from 23rd place they will also be well motivated against a less motivated opposition. This situation is possible. Indeed a couple of mid-weeks ago Grimsby and Barrow won on the Tuesday and then Southend United won on Wednesday at Forest Green Rovers. The bottom three are going to continue with enthusiasm because it is at the moment 2 from 3 to go down, not a bottom 2 detached from 22nd place. If Barrow could take 2 points from their 2 games in hand on Port Vale then Port Vale could get dragged into it.

Hmmm ..... after all, given the immediately above consideration, this season may well fit into the range of possibilities as shown over the last 10 seasons.

Four wins in a row going back to 1968 when last achieved i think,if true good on them. You would think it would be harder to achieve being down the league than Carlisle being up there and going the other way. Both have mainly the same squads, work that out if you can.
