Covid presented our government with a challenge they do not have the collective ability to address.
That is Johnson's fault. We have a 100,000 stories just like this one and one is enough...

You missed the point BT , I freely admitted that the government didn’t have everything right what I asked you for was not a list of what you believed they’re responsible for doing wrong , but how you would stop a disease that no one else could ( I get that parts of what you say are prevalent ).
Imo anyway he ( Boris ) is / was in a no win situation if you take your socialist hat off for 5 mins and rationalise what has been done for example ( eat out to help out ) was done to try and get some money back into the public houses as they knew they were failing badly ( plus and oh so importantly those people are voters - and at some point the conservatives will need the votes ), so they appeased the landlords a bit and gave you a cheap night out ( which I seem to remember you gladly accepted on numerous occasions from posts on here ).
It’s a fine line a balancing act being PM , I wouldn’t like it or would have wanted to inherit it with a silent killer coming to our shores and Brexit to sort .
I wasn’t trying to be obtuse far from it - I was asking if you genuinely had an idea for something different other than the opposites of your quotes of Boris / failings.
My job is to enjoy a well earned retirement army88. Johnson's job was and is to prevent widespread deaths from Covid. He has failed and he needs to fall on his sword and go.
A viable, authoritative, alternative government would help I know, but that's not today's problem. Today's problem is we have the highest death toll from Covid in Europe and the EU are up in arms because we won't share the vaccine!
I have no idea how Johnson is sleeping at night.
A severe case of BDS BT, you're brain, or at least your memory seems to have been addled. The scheme ran in July and August, the virus had all but vanished, the country was open, lockdown had ended, Europe was not in total lockdown, there were some isolated local lockdowns but Europe was open as well.
It's sad BT, the media lie through their teeth, the Mad Scientists of Sage lie through their teeth, you really should know better, a 'deadly disease' indeed, I've lost count of the number of times you've quite rightly rubbished that claim by others, now you're at it as well. Get yourself a nice cup of tea, have a lie down in a darkened room, and come back on when you can post something sensible and coherent.
Think the GVMT had an almost impossible task trying to balance the risks (not all of which were known at the outset) of COVID vs the damage to the economy v the damage to young people’s futures.
Very easy to look back with hindsight but I do think (along with other governments) they made a fair few blunders along the way.
One of the biggest errors was not dealing with Dominic Cummings straight away as they plAyed badly and people stopped listening to the guidance in greater numbers and it put them on the back foot.
The Cummings point being you can understand what he did but it seemed to be clearly contrary to the regulations and he travelled knowing people were symptomatic.
I think the biggest errors have been since the early winter/late autumn where the state of knowledge was better but fairly simple things were ignored.
It’s not just the government to blame though a
Lot of people have blatantly ignored the rules and not followed simple but effective steps.
There has been far too much finger pointing too - Not least at students and young people.
Labour has done a poor job of being an effective opposition and much of the media has been shambolic too.
The focus needs to be on getting through this and the inquisition can take place later. I just hope the small businesses can survive.
So very true, however, BT really is looking at the political aspect and wants Boris to resign so that Labour can point the finger and say he ran away from a crisis. Nothing more, nothing less. He says that he has resigned from the Labour Party, however, it is like being a Burnley or Leeds fan, you just can't walk away because you have your beliefs.
None of us will ever know what is behind all of this. It is what it is and everybody deals with it in different ways, some sensibly using common sense and others with total irresponsibility. Life goes on!
Come on guys get real please?
The minute the Chinese announced the threat (remember map anyone?) the borders had to be closed, instead 3000 Atletico fans arrive from Spain's Covid hotspot to watch a football match in Liverpool.
We stopped community testing when the rest of the world was going helter-skelter with track and trace.
Boris delayed the lockdown against scientific advice resulting in astronomical care home residents' deaths.
The lack of PPE was the reason the virus ran out of control.
Boris failed. Time to go.
