    Substitutes who needs substitutions ?

After all the bleating on here recently about us only fielding 7/8 subs ? So we should be able to call games of etcetera because it weakened our chances !! Accrington managed to play their entire game against league leaders Hull City without making a single change !!
A rare occurrence these days indeed but proves you can get by a fit and strong minded 11 and don’t have to change things just for the sake of it !

Also goes to show that sometimes, retaining a cohesive unit on the field pays dividends over making substitutions simply to waste a bit of time, especially these days as time gets added back on anyway.

    Maybe it’s a bonus thing.

Extra pay if they get on the pitch, with clubs struggling for cash. Maybe the manager has been told “ no subs unless somebody breaks a leg”

Sounds like one of Brin's conspiracy theories but given the current financial woes facing the game and Accy's penchant for good financial management it's a good shout.

I noticed Mansfield was doing this weeks ago, even at most making just one sub at times...needless to say they went on a 5 league match winning streak..a bit of clough pragmatism perhaps.and probably adapting to the times we are in,might have more days off,ex players will always tell you there was no better than the da filing of days off as an incentive.

don’t think our manager changes things for the sake of it . Our team has to put in a lot of effort and energy against better equipped teams so maybe that’s the reason our manager sometimes makes changes.

Yes, that would be the case.

A minor strain during the match can end up as a major months out injury if pushed too hard.

I wasn’t relating to our manager in particular but the fact that a lot of fans including ours start pleading poverty if we don’t fill the bench ! ok we never played the pro game but you would have been devastated in our day not to play the full match, you wanted to finish the job off especially if you were winning.
Point being sometimes it’s better to see the game out with the players who are set and established in their roles and know exactly who they are marking and are fully up to speed .
