Thread: Home Slaughterings?

  1. #11
First season in the Prem 0-6 v Liverpool in April. If we were not already down we were as good as.

We had a full house and Albion fans were behind the team right to the end. Seem to remember we finished with 9 fit men certain Sean Gregan was limping at CH having started in midfield. Owen scored 4.

Difference to now was we all knew we got promoted the season before when we were not really good enough Megson just got a whole lot more out of that team than the sum of the parts. We could live with the players not being good enough. Albion fans were fantastic that day staying behind the team to the bitter end.

We also took 5000 away last game at Blackburn. Knew a Blackburn fan at the time who said to me Albion fans that day were football fans at their very best. Still got my whistle!

What do you reckon if we were allowed in the Hawthorns this April at no risk. 15,000 to start? 0-6 down would any of us be there at the end ?

Didn't Crewe beat us 5-1 at home in the mid 90's.

I also remember us losing 5-0 to Liverpool at home (a couple of seasons after the 6-0), I'm sure that was the 2004 great escape season. It was a freezing cold game around New Year and our right back tipped one over the bar wearing his gloves if I recall correctly.
