    Scottish National Party and independence

Those Scottish folk who crave independence and that the country should join the European Union should bear in mind that if those aims had been achieved there would have been almost fuck all Scottish people given the anti-Covid vaccination by now.

No doubt the counter-argument would be that this is a one-off serious situation. But it tends to happen that several times in each year serious situations occur and on such occasions you can be certain that in the EU the 'powers that be' would have neither the opinion nor the fate of Scotland as a primary consideration.

The concept of Scotland being independent is interesting from a practical point of view. There are various factors to be considered before Scotland could join the EU and indeed there are several crucial factors inhibiting such prospects.

So, for at least 10 years and more likely to be indefinitely, an independent Scotland not in the EU is interesting. There would have to be full customs facilities at the border (no political problem such as happened in Ireland) but they would probably exist only on the main road routes. So people in cars and those in company lorries would plan to cross the border by using minor roads. The UK and Scottish governments would anticipate this and have a few customs vehicles randomly patrolling these minor roads. I.e. let's assume that there are 20 relatively minor roads which cross the border. Maybe each side of the border there would be 5 or 6 customs vehicles per shift permanently randomly operating near to where these roads cross the border. Those folk living in the villages along these roads would get annoyed at the heavy traffic now regularly happening in what had hitherto been an idyllic neighbourhood.

Is it true that Scotland would be better off outside the UK?

Of course Scotland would have a far better future in the UK. Now that the UK has left the EU the future is bright for the UK. In these circumstances for Scotland to leave the UK would be like it tearing up a lottery jackpot winning ticket.

Maybe Sturgeon does not does want to leave uk,but tells the people that she wants a referendum because it will keep the people onside. When and if she had full power then she would take all the flack.Perhaps deep down she does not want it but sounds as if she does and appeals to the masses.Once in power then responsibilities will be hers and then what.
