    Treansfer Roundup

In the best journalist traditions, here's a cut and paste of the other cut and paste (Derbyshire Live) regarding our transfer business as concluded last eve

George Edmundson, a 23-year-old central defender, has signed from Rangers.

Beni Baningime, a 22-yearold defensive midfielder, has joined the Rams from Everton.

Patrick Roberts, a 23-year-old winger/forward, has come in from Manchester City via Middlesbrough.

Lee Gregory, a 32 year old forward has come from Stoke City.

Teden Mengi, an 18-year-old defender has joined the Rams for the remainder of the season from Man Utd

We obviously wish these fellahs the best in our drive towards the playoffs. Of the five, the same hoots who recommended Shinnie to me have given a tick at least for graft to Edmudson and our Millwall friend Claw 84 has confirmed Gregory as another hard worker

No experienced midfielders plus we've let Evans go, so Rooney obviously has more faith in the Max Bird to step up for Bielik than some of us do

    Thoughts anyone?

All loans so short term fixes to help us stay up, to give MM time to put together a sale and then reload in the summer secure in the championship. I guess there may be some options to but later?

Roberts was projected for great things but hasn't delivered - let's hope he can be revived. Gregory a solid backup. The other 3 I've nothing on but positional they look to fit.

Still not convinced we can score enough but goalscorers cost money, something we don't possess

Less from history, in the 200-2001 season we didn't even win til November and were rock bottom, but pulled ourselves out of the shyte with a succession on boring but effective 1-0 and 2-0 wins and 0-0 draws. Its the nil against that matters in times of hardship

On the face of it, good business it seems Rooney has been using his contacts and all are loans so the emphasis is on strengthening the squad and surviving in the championship.

Edmundson needs game time after injury, but will provide cover in defence with Mengi, Mengi is presumably expecting game time?

Baningime is has for me been acquired to cover the gap which Beiliks injury created.

Most important for me though were reinforcements up front and Gregory provides proven championship experience, a strong hard working striker with or to cover Kaz.

Roberts can play out wide and whilst he didn't feature much at Boro, may provide that bit of creativity required to up our goal tally whilst also chipping in with a few himself.

In the circumstances I'd say it looks a good transfer window,.

    Completely agree with that appraisal.

Everything we could have wanted, with the possible exception of some midfield ‘know how’, and more.

With CKR, Roberts and Gregory (as well as Waghorn - don’t think he left - and Lawrence to return) we surely should manage more goals.

Baningime is an odd one. Seems to have only ever made nine first team appearances (1 on loan to Wigan) and the other eight for Everton but about four years ago.

... only to get relegated the next year 🤔 so hardly a great template.

I think Manchester City went down that year, thank God we didn't follow their pattern or we'd really be in it now....

My main hope this year was that we would stay up and the Blades would get a worse prem pts total than us. Hopefully at least one will be realised!

I do remember 2007, when we were under wee Billy and brought in a load of players and scraped in the top 6

I don't know anything about any of them to be excited or disappointed. All I hope is, that they are committed and can help us secure survival. If so, well done Mr Rooney.
