The West Ham red card was a complete and utter joke. VAR is an embarrassment when decisions like that are made which don’t even apply the laws of football.

I can only imagine the FA, UEFA and FOFA like the controversy it creates a high keeps football in the spot light but eventually it will turn people off.

Even Mitrovic seemed to be saying it wasn’t a red

But only after he went down as if he'd been hit square in the face by Mike Tyson.

I thought Mtrovic should have been red carded for simulation and impersonating a professional footballer.

Not sure Cherry was definitely contact but completely accidental and not reckless. Agree his initial reaction didn’t look the best but to be fair he seemed to be saying to the ref it wasn’t a red.

He would know given his attempt to take Ben White’s head off last year 🙃

Debate this morning on talk sport....
Only person talking sense is Simon jordan

Danny murphy says he can live with VAR but does not like the offside element...
Errrr that's the offside rule Danny and not VAR

Now we have fans coming on
    Err get rid its ****e
These are the same buffoons who where blaming refs before VAR

VAR is a piece of Tech it ain't the Ref
Some on here are blaming VAR for Fulham V West Ham Get it right its mike dean and the buffoon upstairs who made the decision not VAR

As I type Mike Dean has got it wrong and the red card has been over turned
So bloody VAR did not make the decision it was mike bloody dean

    Blaming VAR is lazy
The blame is how we are using VAR that is the authorities and the Refs

But there again we could go back to the 75 euro cup final and have great decisions like that

    What you going on about

    Basham is offside
The linesman is in line and does not give it
Clear offside brilliant how VAR should be used

    2nd Decision
Are rugby tackles now allowed in football
Jesus it was a def pen not given by the Ref
    Var put him right

Not talking about the offside, talking about the penalty. What is the keeper supposed to do when he's going down for the ball and making himself as low and wide as possible, defy the laws of physics and stop before the attacker hits him? The Chelsea player knew he had played the ball too far and would never retrieve it, so rather than jump over the keeper (which he clearly had time to do) left his legs in a position where Ramsdale couldn't avoid contact. THAT is clear from VAR footage but rather than leave "as is" or perhaps penalise the Chelsea player, he gives a penalty.

Stupid rule, stupid use of the technology. If it didn't exist refs would have to think a bit more and posture a bit less.

As for blaming refs when they appear to get it wrong, sure, been like that since football started up, so what, they choose to be referees, nobody twisting their arm to wear the black kit. Perhaps if as a body they were seen to be making representations to the powers that be to improve both the rules AND the use of VAR I'd have some sympathy with them, but they don't and I haven't.
