Im sure nobody remembers an answer i gave to Aff shore where i pointed out that 24 Local Authority areas were within the old parameters of less than 75/100k for what i thought was Tiers 3. Today i see that 24 Local Authority areas are now within what i have seen reported as the future Tier 3 limits of less than 50/100k.

Caveat though, as less testing just now with 2% of tests showing as positive, and while tests should ramp up again, i hope we dont see too much of a rise in new infections.

Bid of a disappointment this week with the news about the Oxford jab and the blood clot side effects, but i am wondering if this also has something to do with people coming out of restrictions and going full on party mode too soon after getting their jabs?

Good news though that the new Moderna jab has made it into the supply steam. Anyway, on with the weekly day late because of easter update.

Vaccination effort allocated/delivered to Monday, vaccinations to Tuesday.

Loosely based on the current target of 400k vaccinations/week, 285,670 (486,870), 5 days sitting doon sooth, 455,619 (521,301) 8 days in stock.

Dose 1 vaccination progress by age group. Dose 2 reported as appropriate.
    Over 80s, (264,361/269,964) 97.9% – 47.5% (46.5)

    40-49, (231,498/679,846) 34% (33.6)
    30-39, (173,406/721,100) 24% (23.8)
    16-29, (148,800/1,033,977) 15.6% (15.4)

    Total, 2,593,932/4,542,788 57.1%
    131,740 to 60%

Percentage vaccinated dose 1 and 7-day Case/100k by Local authority.
    Western isles, (16,959/22,457) 75.5% - 0 (73.1% - 11.2)
    Orkney Isles, (14,174/18,767) 75.8% - 0 (70.8% - 0)
    Shetland Isles, (12,470/18,725) 66.6% - 4.4 (65.2% - 8.7)

    Edinburgh, (195,841/446,057) 43.9% - 31.6 (41.2% - 55.6)
    Glasgow, (238,101/532,926) 44.7% - 73.8 (41.1% - 97.1)

Most positive thing i have seen when getting all that info is i believe that, base on seeing one possible iteration of the new tier parameters, if Tiers were to be applied today, i believe the following is how we will enter into the Tiers system.

9 Areas Tier 0 although 1 might be Tier 1
14 Areas Tier 1 although 1 might be Tier 2
    8 Areas Tier 2/3
    1 Area Tier 4!

There is a balance to be struck about the blood clotting issue. Overall it is incredibly small numbers but that obviously doesnt lessen the impact on those who are unlucky enough to suffer.
A genuine immune mediated issue that has occurred and presents with scary consequences. Most have had blood test abnormalities before hand (which are not in themselves concerning) but could also help to predict who is at most risk.
It is likely their underlying immune issue would have presented at some stage - although unlikely to be in a severe way like it has done. That is why it is the younger end of the age ranges that are affected though.

It does remain a safe treatment for the majority of people and the thought to consider alternative drug in under 30s is entirely a pragmatic, and likely sensible, solution to make sure we continue to hit the high numbers vaccinated that we are doing. Hopefully the reporting doesnt reduce confidence in the vaccination programme. It is still our only way out of this.

Chick's updates are outstanding, really good reading and show exactly the impact the vaccination programme is having. Enjoy reading these, thanks for collating.

There's a report on the BBC website saying the correlation between case numbers and deaths is breaking due to the vaccination program. This is great news.
