It may be. However who can the batters practice against to make themselves better? Ravi Ashwin is one of the best in the business and our spinners are non league in comparison.
Many sides have gone to places like India and been made to look bang average. Coming in to this series we were on a decent run having beaten average teams like South Africa and Sri Lanka. We are probably 4th or 5th best in the world with the top 3 of India, Australia and NZ streets ahead. The latter 2 I believe would also struggle against this India outfit in these conditions.

I agree most teams will lose in India they are number one for a reason.

I disagree that NZ/Australia are streets ahead of us they might be slightly better but over here you wouldnt back any of them to beat us.

I expected a tonking in India and we are getting one but lets be fair we are chopping & changing every game and players coming & going due to Covid/time off doesnt help plus zero warm up games either needs to be factored no chance we'd have agreed to that if it was The Ashes.

Some early optimism, but it turned out to be a really disappointing day. We worked a position where we could have scraped a first innings lead and have a glimmer of hope, but now it looks a question of whether we lose by an innings or 10 wickets.

So we opted for the innings defeat! They are obviously a better team, but they shouldn't be that much better. Half of it is down to poor technique, the other half was a complete lack of bottle. We just folded tamely and let them walk all over us.

As disappointing as this test series has been I am more optimistic of a better showing in the shorter formats.
