In practical terms, better players get more of a say, because their services will be in more demand. They will want more flexibility to leave in order to advance their careers and secure more remunerative terms.

what you say is probably true but Rotherham nearly always wait too long to extend a contract. By the way yes I did know that players have a say in their contracts , I would say that would be blatantly obvious.
