    Suspect it’s because he gets paid for what he says and writes 😆

    Sir Phil is generally okay - what did he say to upset you?

    Phil is the best reporter we've had, one of the few to really report all the nonsense Bates was up to and stop us from being kept completely in the dark.

    Couple of examples from the last day or two;

    https://www.footballfancast.com/leed...bielsa-arsenal

    https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/02/blo...leeds-newsnow/

    First one....what the f00k does he know about Rodrigos injury and if (big if), he knows anything factual then please report it. If he diesnt, then he is in no better a position to make pronouncements about the player than you or I.

    Second one......no sh1t Sherlock, other clubs have noticed Raphina, shock horror, our secret is out FFS!

    As you say, paid for what he writes and increasingly that seems to be by the word, not for actual content worth reading.

    Ancient history Joel, he can't rest on his laurels from years gone by. His "contributions" of late have been poor to say the least.

    He didn't write the first article lol and anyway it is literally his job to report on things like injuries. If nobody did we'd all complain that we are being kept in dark about players!

    He is pretty close to the club; players, coaches and management - hence he had a large role in the amazon prime documentaries.

    Not known for talking random nonsense and seems to have the heads up on a lot of stuff before other journos - think he had the scoop on the pitch for example and said at the start of the year there would be no incomings in the window.

    Much prefer him to those left a the YEP

    Sorry Joel, but the first article quotes Hay, as follows;

    "Now, The Athletic’s Phil Hay has*delivered*an update on Rodrigo’s injury status, saying that he is “out for longer yet” on his official Twitter account."

    Which bit of that didn't he write? And what exactly is he basing his statement on?

    I'd rather wait for something authoritative from a trusted source than take some vague waffle from someone who appears to be getting paid by the word, rather than for actually reporting something worthwhile.

    "The scoop on the pitch"? Did you see ER before the new surface was laid???? Don't need scoops (at least not of the journalistic sort), when something like that shows up!

    Anyway, I just wish he would go back to being knowledgable, provide insight rather than statements of the blindingly obvious, and report on news (even if at the time it has a hint of rumour about it!). Harder to generate column inches but isn't that why he gets paid so well?

    He knew we were buying the pitch from spurs before most
