Could there be any higher praise from you, mac?

I’ve only seen highlights of Dave Mackay...but I knew Wisdom’s performance reminded me of someone last night. We’d have lost without him and he was indeed ‘awesome’...a real leader.

Mackay never played that position for us but to be compared to The Great Man in any way is a compliment worth having. There’s been a lot of murmurs about cutting him loose when his contract is up, I think he’s been unjustly underrated due to his less obtrusively, less ‘throw it all at the ball’ style compared to Clarke

Imo Wisdom, and Clarke, have been our two most reliable performers for well over a year now. Wisdom also has the additional attribute of being more versatile in that he can play RB as well as CD.
His only setback came with last year’s street attack...and, at 27, I’d certainly be offering him a long term contract asap.

The 2 complement one another very well. Clarke the up and at em kind looking for every ball whether low or in the air. Wis with brilliant positional play being in the right place to sweep up if the ball gets past Clarke. He often forgets man marking, preferring instead to move to where the ball's going to be..... and usually gets it right as well.

When DM was playing the opposition knew that to beat Derby they had to overcome the DM effect. I've seen players visibly shaken when he loomed before them, they knew that this guy was the boss and mere mortals may as well go home. The confidence that this inspired in the rest of the team was immeasurable and that is what Wiz did for the lads last night. Not only was his performance immense but his overall manner made it clear that as far as he was concerned they 'will not pass'. After they scored we could have been overrun but he rallied the troops and that gave us the brief chance of a nicked goal.
That is why I believe the DM comparison is well deserved and I am sure the Great Man would agree!
