Depleted Motherwell not close to St Johnstone

A much weakened Motherwell side were completely outclassed by St Johnstone and the 3-0 loss at Fir Park hardly reflected the balance of play. Link

Rumour mill already in progress stating that a “number” of players have fallen out with and taken exception to Alexander’s training methods and tactics. If that’s the case IMO get them away from the first team squad as the position we are in the league we ONLY needs players that are prepared and willing to go the extra mile for the manager, team mates, fans and the club
Certain players already give the impression that they will plying their trade at different clubs if that is the case they will definitely not be giving 100% for MOTHERWELL so get them to rubber duck from the first team pool

Not saying it's not true but our tactics of a bog standard 4-3-3 is what we've played since New Year 2019 with only the occasional flirt with 3-5-2. We've maybe tweaked how we press but from the outside there's absolutely nothing seen publicly which suggests Alexander has done much to annoy anyone at all.

As for training who knows but given the run we were on and position we were in the league it's hard to argue a change of some kind wasn't needed.

His comment at the end of his interview yesterday that "whether the players that were missing affected other players mindsets, I don't know" is quite intriguing though...it was only at the end of the chat he seemed to get angry. He has a hell of a job to do - I really refuse to believe he doesn't know wholescale changes are needed but trying to get the same players motivated to keep us up while you're trying to shove them out the door is not easy.

We'll have an idea on Wednesday about attitudes. Anything similar to Saturday's showing would be frightening.

There are plenty of rumours doing the rounds about players causing problems behind the scenes but who knows if they're true or not. Certainly a good few are not doing themselves any favours just now.
