I think that was at a night game at Birmingham City and I'm certain I made that banner up in my garden in Bestwood Estate. My mum told me off for using a single bed sheet of mine - things were hard then. I am looking to my right and behind the guy with the Super Notts scarf on in the middle and my mate Charve is behind me. He's about 6ft 7/8, so used to stand out a bit. Bloody hell that's brought home some memories.
Soon as I saw Lacey he reminded me of a calm classy defender from the past.
RIP Glenn.
I imagine there’s still a dusty old bucket full of coins and a few notes in the chairman’s office. ‘The Glenn Roeder Fund’.
Knowing Jack Dunnett, I bet there isn’t.
Was it £75,000 Dunnett wanted us to raise and he’d then match it? A lot of money in those days - I don’t think we got close to getting the total.
Very sad news, Glenn Roeder was a supremely classy defender who had an immediate positive effect on our performances in an otherwise very ropey season. Seemed like a thoroughly decent guy too when he moved into management. Very sad news, 65 is no age. RIP Glenn.
BTW, anyone recognise themselves in that great black and white photo?
