Two weeks to the next home game against Chelski - looks like very little rain forecast and sun from this weekend.

Let’s hope someone can work some magic on that ‘pitch’ to get grass growing and the furrows and holes in it levelled out.

God knows how bad it would be if they had kept the old one.

The old cliche springs to mind " it's the same for both teams " .. But it appears to be quite dangerous to the players..

God knows how bad it would be if they had kept the old one.

Frankly, would have preferred the old pitch. May have been a bit of a ploughed field, but didn't see the kind of slips and actual/potential injuries to players.

We should play elsewhere for the rest of the season (Thorp Arch has been mentioned, but probably not adequate regarding floodlighting and other facilities?)

Agree it’s the same for both teams Alf but it ruins it for both teams and is dangerous - if it rains every time someone slips I catch my breath hoping they haven’t injured themselves.

Not sure it’s much better when it is dry either though and could easily see someone turning
an ankle or worse

How has our pitch become so bad when everyone else's, championship clubs included, don't seem to have had an issue, it certainly impeded the way we play.

I suspect we got bitten timing-wise by the pandemic. The pitch was showing its age towards the point where the season was suspended, and (I think) there were plans already in place to replace, and allow "bedding in" but the shortened close season didn't allow for the "full plan" to be implemented. The recent replacement was obviously a knee-jerk reaction, when we should have either said play home games at the away ground, or if that wasn't feasible, arrange for home games at Bramall Lane, Hillsborough, Thorp Arch, anywhere that was FA-acceptable and capable of accepting our home game schedule.

Disappointed in Puppenstuff moaning like a girl, he must have been aware of the shortcomings, given all the coverage it has had. Genuinely sorry for the Romeu bloke though, saw the slow-mo and must have hurt like hell, and obviously serious as he appears to be out for the season with a fractured ankle.
