A quick free kick, agreed by the ref is a smart action. It does seem unfair that the team awarded the foul are thereafter penalised by being expected to await the opposition to fully settle and set up!
I agree with that. If you are breaking quickly and are fouled outside the box, then waiting until everyone is back and ready benefits the defenders more than the attacker's and the advantage is lost.

IMHO the attacking team should have the option of taking a quick free kick whether that's a pass or shot at goal. If they don't, with the abundance of cameras at grounds these days, it should be possible to make every player go back to where they were when the foul was committed. The defensive team could select a maximum number of players to go in a wall.
That way the attacking team should retain some advantage.

Going back to the first ‘penalty’, the player taking it, Gross, started his run up, had a momentary pause, then took the shot; had it gone in, I would have hoped that it would have been disallowed because of the pause in the run up. Another penalty taking miscreant is Bruno Fernandez of Manure, who jumps up in the air as part of his run up, in so doing, so I thought, invalidating the penalty kick. What is the law on penalty taking, has it changed in recent years?
