    England's batting.

Absolutely abysmal. Admittedly it's not easy to bat on turning wickets in the sub continent but you have to show a little bit of application. Yes, their spinners are better than ours and the wickets conducive to spin but to just surrender wickets like we have is not acceptable. With the exception of Lawrence and Root we have just raised the white flag. Some of the shots played were beyond belief. What was Bairstowe doing playing that shot first ball? Basically, England's batting was saying ' They're too good for us, so what the heck!'

Sibley is abysmal, he has one shot to leg and that’s about it.

Him and Burns both have an awful technique and I’m glad Burns has been ditched........that terrible affliction he has where he forces himself to look sideways as he’s preparing to play each ball is hideous.

If you need to have so many unnatural idiosyncratic movements before playing a shot then it’s a sure sign you’re an accident waiting to happen.

If you watch the greats like Boycott and Gower just see how still they are at the the crease until the ball leaves the bowlers hand.

As you rightly say Leicester, it’s application, also limited overs cricket ( exciting and there is a place for it) has a lot to answer for, the shot selection is very poor, foot not to the pitch of the ball, leg outside leg stump, the players need to recognise Test cricket for what it is, a test of technique, application, skill and importantly patience.
It also helps if the players have the bottle for a fight, sadly some haven’t.
Also sick and tired of the hype over Archer and Stokes, Archer out with an elbow injury must have done it bowling at 83 mph for long periods, I suffered an horrific elbow injury whilst bowling, it took two seasons before I could bowl again, Archer should rest before he does permanent damage.
As for Stokes, too much hype, one world class innings now and again in between he’s just mediocre and he’s vice captain, can’t fault his bowling or fielding though.

Got our tickets for NZ and Ind 2nd day at Lord's. One of the best occasions of the year for me. At over £100 a pop it should be. Had notification NZ tickets maybe cancelled because of crowd restrictions.

Plenty of contenders for batting 4,5,6,7 but no one to bat 1,2, or 3. Step up up skipper.
