Thread: Release or retain

    Release or retain

With our status almost secure, thoughts will be turning to contract renewals...tbh there's no one I would be massively disappointed to see go from those whose deals are expiring with the exception of Kelly. But on the basis we just won't be able to replace everyone all at once, here's where things could be.

Release: Fox, Chapman, Dunne, Hussain, Mugabi, Nolan, Polworth, Robinson, Foley, McGloire, Hastie, Seedorf, Smith, Long, Semple

(Try to) keep: Kelly, Morrison, Gallagher, SOD, Campbell, Cole

TBD on who is available, wages, last six games etc: Maguire, Crawford, Roberts

Of the players we'd like to keep it's not unrealistic we lose all of them apart from Morrison which could cast a more favourable light not only on the maybe pile but also the likes of Mugabi, Long - but so much depends on who their potential replacements are.

    It'll be a busy summer...

    Who would be a manager?

It's as near to starting with a blank canvas as you can get, I suppose, and ironically it's been the seasons we've had the biggest change and not only minor tweaks where we've done best recently.

But we're probably going to be recruiting at least 10 players this summer - assuming we don't hand Cornelius, McIver etc sudden responsibility - the potential for it to go horribly wrong is huge.

I'm working to the assumption a large part of GA's 'pitch' would've been based on his contacts in the lower leagues of England, and the prospects of getting some 'decent' talent after May. Like so many seasons for us it's a 'toss of a coin' outcome, rather than being a planned and structured approach. That's not a criticism; just a fact.

I'd try to retain Crawford, Roberts and Cole, although being ambitious. I'd add to your jettison list the names of Mugabi and Maguire. The first is somewhat erratic and injury prone whilst Maguire hasn't really stood out in his first team appearances and how much longer should we give him? Gallagher, O'Donnell and campbell will leave.

If/When we secure our stay in the Premier league I would like to see young PJ Morrison given a game from the start I think he deserves
