2 goals? Blimey we can rarely score 1. Anyway I'm going for a Rooney tactical masterclass and a 1-0 win!

I doubt it...but then seeing as I’ve been nervously waiting to find out out how we get on TONIGHT!!...what do I know?

I'm expecting all the big uns to be selected for tonight. Barnsley, as ever, will lob high balls into the box and behind our defence from everywhere with the possible exception of from inside their own box. I fully expect to see Wis, Edmundson and Clarke at the back with possibly Mengi as well.

Midfield 5 of Bird, Shinnie and Watson central and Byrne and Buchanan (possibly Foz in for Lee) out wide.

    CKR isolated up top.

He might even go for a back 5 to counteract their route 1 game. Either way, it won't be a game for the footballing purist.

My own preference would be for 3 (W, E, C) at the back, MF 5 as quoted and CKR up top with Sibley playing off him. 2nd best would be Gregory with CKR but I don't really like that pairing as they often go for the same run/ball.

Obviously, Rooney's selection will be nothing like my guesses.

You can call me what you want, I used to know a very accommodating Shirley...and yes, today I mean tonight...but yesterday I meant tonight too, but it should have been tomorrow which is now, in fact, tonight. Hope that’s clarified things.
Either way I fear we’ll lose but seeing as I appear not to know what day it is...who knows?

Not being as fickle as Adi and the ‘Amster, I’m not expecting our record in Yorkshire to change and am sticking to 3-0.

Its curious, but I suspect most people of our vintage knew an accommodating Shirley - in fact I knew two such. There is something about the name that resonates with immediate post pubescent experiences. Except Shirley Williams of course

I know what you mean, but the only famous Shirleys I can think of...Temple, McLaine and Bassey were all between 20-30 years older than us, so I guess the ones (or twos in your case) we ‘knew’ were named after them.
I think Brenda, Carol and Jean fit much the same era...not many of them around these days either.

I spent Saturday afternoons in the company of a very active Shirley in skimpy clothes

    But so did you
