Great run or not playing Alloa seems to be an acid test for Queens teams for years. We did not seem to have much control and seemed to have a soft belly again even before Ayo being sent off. 2-2 at half time was a very fair score as if anything Alloa were playing better. They did not look like a bottom of the league team.
You could certainly argue for a red card for Ayo but to me there did not seem a great deal of claiming anything from the Wasps players. He did not seem out of control to me or any intent to hurt the player. I never like to see the referee rushing to get the red card out it seems like little thought has went into the decision. Greg Aitken always worries me. I never enjoy his officiating . The penalty certainly hits Willie's hand but his arm doesn't seem to move to the ball. I must admit I don't know what the handball ruling is now. McCabe does throw his arm back and catch the boy so it is a red card now. Silly by him. Did the Alloa player get booked for his part? A disclaimer on the refs performance is that Alloa may well have won it anyway. They shaded the first half although the second half was pretty even apart from the one bit that really mattered.
East played well with a fine header. Could he team up better with Shields as a front two with Dapo playing on the right? Dapo has such assets and is so exciting but a good few attacks broke down when he took on one player too many. We need to get back to everything for the team first, second and third.
East, Ferguson, Shields and McGrory all played well. Fitzpatrick needs to show more. The base is there but he needs to show much more intensity for 90 minutes he could be a standout at this level.
Andy Graham's late challenge is as cynical as they come absolute no intent to play the ball but its just a yellow card. To be fair to Graham I think he was sticking up for his fellow centre half Ayo telling Aitken it was not a red card as they went off at half time.
I think the referee made some mistakes but so did Queens. Lets get the teamwork back for Morton on Saturday.

Queens have appealed both sending offs.

Queens have won both appeals to the sending offs which is fairly unusual and a tacit admission that the referee got it completely wrong robbing Queens of a potential victory. I wonder if there are consequences for the ref following this as there really should be some level of punishment?

Spike, what may or may not have happened is a completely different matter, - and without doubt Queens would have at least one point and probably all three, - however, we've won the important battle of ensuring that two very important players are available for this Saturday and subsequent games.

What the manager and players should realise though is that indiscipline could ruin our season, making players ineligible for the top 4 spots and for the Scottish Cup, - so it is important that we forget about any punishments for referees and concentrate on our own game.

That is the point of appeals, - correcting wrongs - not handing out punishments to referees who got it wrong on the day. That being said, - I'm sure the powers that be will have something to say if the same gentleman makes the same mistakes!

That is for those in positions of power to decide, - the players and management need to remove any smugness from their minds and concentrate on the next game....................playing fairly.
