Well it was with great sadness that I belatedly learnt of Lee Bowyer's departure yesterday. He managed in difficult times but took the club into the play-offs twice, 2nd time round with a promotion, 2019. Although the team was relegated in 2020, he stood by the club when the going was getting tough. As a Lee Bowyer stalwart I will miss his style of leadership but wish him well at Birmingham in what must be a career move.

Johnnie Jackson had a great partnership with Lee and in charge for the game against Rovers as caretaker gaffer, had a great start with this close win.

Charlton had to come back from two goals behind, but did so by bringing back Andrew Shinnie and Jake Forster-Caskey into the line-up and both scored. The winning goal came from the in-form Washington in the 2nd half. While fans wait to see who will be the next Manager, JJ has proved he is more than capable of the job at the first attempt. Charlton go back into the play-offs but all the teams around them have plenty of games in hand.

Charlton goals: Shinnie 33, Forster-Caskey 43, Washington 84
Bristol Rovers goals: Leahy 18 (pen), Upson 32
