    Luton

    Anyone dare to predict?

A lesson from history. Good friday 1972, 49 years and 1 day before the Luton game, and for those old enough to remember, you may agree that we were treated to one of the most memorable victories in the club's history, the 2-0 win over Leeds.

Oh how the mighty have fallen

Nothing less than three points will do...simple as that!

Five or six weeks ago a points total of 57 points seemed reasonably. A total of just 49, hopefully including home wins over relegation rivals Brum and Wednesday, will now involve a massive improvement on what we’ve seen recently and that improvement has to start against Luton.

True, Luton had fallen out of the league system completely not that long ago

........and 2 days later we lost at home to Newcastle 1-0 which at the time made me confident that the title would fall from our grasp

It did me too. I didn't go to the Newcastle game, I recall hearing the news through the BBC teleprinter and it spoilt a lovely sunny day in our back garden. Jeez, if only I could remember whether Mrs F just asked for tea or coffee as clearly as I can remember those days
