    Getting Mad with The Hatters

Anyone want to guess on tomorrow's outcome?

A few years ago I was with some Luton supporting friends as they dropped out of the EFL. Far from downhearted, one of them predicted at the time that they would not only be 'back' but above Derby in the pecking order within five years. I shouldn't have laughed.

Anyway 2-1 Derby for me more in hope than expectation

1-1. Strangely, I fancy our chances better against Reading Monday

Good news: we won. Bad news: two crocked strikers!

30 mins of good effort, the odd moment after that. But Luton never laid a (footballing) glove on us, so a job well done. With Rovrum losing, it gives us a nice little buffer. Hopefully some confidence going into the next match, we can stick our noses over the line before limping home!

Feel a bit for Kelle. Done nowt wrong but still lost his place. Good first 30, back on the front foot. Started 2nd half well too. After that the game fell apart. Stop, start, no flow to it. They did slightly better on possession. We did slightly better on shots and shots on target.

Shame we lost 2 forwards with hamstring issues. Great footwork by Lawro for the penalty but he ought to have put his head on those 2 first half chances rather than whatever it was he tried to do. IMO the rest of the outfield players would have headed them.....

How the double barrelled named gut stayed on for his afters with Byrne is a mystery. As is what led to Kaz getting angry post game and gettihg a yellow card?

Lawrence didn’t just make a poor effort at heading he seemed to bottle it, wonder if the recent stories about links to dementia are in hi thoughts (and why not)

Crucial 3 points, but hamstrings can take a while and with seven matches to play in five weeks it may be that we’ve seen the last of Gregory and Waghorn.
The former seems useful but injury prone. The latter always gives his all but doesn’t seem to have the best of relationships with WR.

Understand the dementia point, AF...but, without downplaying your suggestion at all, I believe there’s a huge difference between the balls headed by the likes of Astle, Charlton and McQueen and the relative ‘balloons’ that are played with today.

Reading, a couple of years back. Last minute header from a Bennett coss. He can head but does he want to?

I remember them rA. My school was very competitive on footy with some seriously good players and a lot of competition for the first team but the two main incentives to excellence were that the second team used the old heavyweight brown ‘Lacey’ balls and even more heavyweight cotton shirts that felt like you were wearing a sack of coal when wet. That Lacey BLOODY hurt to head (in fact it hurt to kick!).
