I actually quite like some of the people mentioned here, I think Alex Scott, Lee Hendrie, Don Goodman, Hinchcliffe are okay.

I really can't stand Paul Merson, Steve Mcnamaman or Michael Owen. Shearer is a bit boring too.

I don't actually think Roy Keane is a very good pundit. He says a lot of things for a reaction sometimes I think.

Honestly i mute the sound before and during the game and then switch off when the game is finished.
Ive said this before but you notice far more of the game.
All dumped into room 101 for me

Same here, I often turn off commentary.

I find that after 50 years of watching football I don’t need telling when it’s a corner or a throw in!

Richie Benaud the cricket commentator was the absolute genius at reading a situation, when he first got into commentary and old stager told him the art of commentary was knowing when to shut up.

If often watch old clips of test cricket from the 70’s and 80’s and you’d be amazed at Richie’s style.......he could sometimes go three or four minutes saying absolutely nothing because the play was so intense and compelling.

Michael Parkinson said the same about the chat show host, the best ones ( like him ) often sit there for ages saying nothing.....the art is to ask the right lead in question and let the guest just roll with it.

As far as I'm concerned the old Gillette Soccer Saturday team did it for me. Stelling, Le Tissier, Merson,Thompson and Nicholas. Far better than the present lot.
