Perchino and Lovenkrands are the ones who always come to mind. (I know already mentioned).

Nolan as well, he always seemed to give his best - but that is very coloured by the hat-trick against Mackems

I think players like Warren Barton, John Beresford and Ryan Taylor never left the field thinking they could have given more; ditto John Anderson from further back. I think Paul Dummett falls into this category and, oddly enough, Lascelles. Not the most gifted (although maybe that's unkind on Beresford) but you know that they'll give you the best they've got.

Aye, we'd prefer players to be more like the likes of Speed, Shearer, Beardsley and Rob Lee, etc whose effort was matched by their talent but that's not realistic.

So, howay, let's salute the unsung heroes.

Be interesting to see if any of our recent players get a mention?
Can't agree with Barton, bud...yes with the effort but not with the 7/10...he was awful!
As someone mentioned, Stevie Watson was one of those and he was a much better rb...imo of course!

Dummet is a big one...I've slagged him off in the past, but he's proved me wrong...really is Mr. Reliable...although I do think his best position is on the left of a back 3!

David Kelly, a great team player, with talent, but not good enough once we got promoted, sold by KK, he must have been gutted but Keegan probably just put his arm round him and everything in the world would have been ok,,will always be one of my favourite understated players.

I guess Mike Williamson could be mentioned here for most of his career with us, bar a few headless performances.

Vurnon Anita also had limited ability, but was a very reliable utility player.

    Kelly is a fantastic shout.

I'm afraid I disagree about Williamson, Hughie. I hate to agree with John Carver, but I think he got himself deliberately sent off against Leicester.

Agreed. That was one of his headless performances!
