Not the most talented but players who never let us down

Who always gave at leat a 7/10 performance or, if they had a poor game, it wasn't for want of trying their best.

I think players like Warren Barton, John Beresford and Ryan Taylor never left the field thinking they could have given more; ditto John Anderson from further back. I think Paul Dummett falls into this category and, oddly enough, Lascelles. Not the most gifted (although maybe that's unkind on Beresford) but you know that they'll give you the best they've got.

Aye, we'd prefer players to be more like the likes of Speed, Shearer, Beardsley and Rob Lee, etc whose effort was matched by their talent but that's not realistic.

So, howay, let's salute the unsung heroes.

Be interesting to see if any of our recent players get a mention?

    PERCHINHO - freaking legend
JONAS - a clunky, awkward odd genius
Danny Simpson - just went about his job of being a quality Right Back defensively, quick enough to get back and surprisingly good in attack.
Raul Fox - Always got to the bi-line and put the ball in, solid winger.
Peter Lovenkrands - Worked his ass off. Never set the world alight but the fella was always there.

    Some great shouts there, man.

I guess you could add Ritchie from the current mob?

Darlow when he stepped in during Dubravka's injury absence.

Paul Dummett. Apologies Zip, only just seen you included him already.

David McCreery - always put in a shift. My memory may be a bit hazy but I’m sure he man marked John Barnes out of the game once at St James’ when John Barnes was probably the best player in the league for Liverpool at the time.

Getting rid of Hughes was madness - and Steve Watson.
