So in a nutshell the French are just jealous of our breakaway from the bottomless pit, which is the EU?

Not jealous Brin. Angry, yes but for the good of the Union it is a point that could cause some serious problems if other countries follow suite so they have to make it look as unatractive as possible.
I've spoken to a couple of mates over the Brexit process who have changed their mands about the EU. Who knows but I am hating this Britain bashing by the French and German politicians
