Christopher Eccleston left Doctor Who after being the Doctor for the first series of the revived television series. It seems that he was not at all pleased by the way that the upper echelons of the programme's staff treated the lower orders.

Now he is back once again being the ninth Doctor in the Big Finish audio stories. Big Finish have the rights to make audio productions using any of the Doctors except the current television one. They are not doing this in the sequence that the Doctors originally occurred. There may be a Paul McGann's Doctor story, then a David Tennant, then a Colin Baker, then Sylvester McCoy, then Peter Davison, then Tom Baker or indeed any order. All the Doctors from Tom Baker to David Tennant have done Big Finish work and most of them have been accompanied by their companions. Even the first Doctor's grand-daughter Susan (Carol Anne Ford) appeared in an 8th Doctor, Paul McGann, story. All the enemies can also be used by Big Finish.

Big Finish sell these in the various formats to the general public worldwide. Then what usually happens after maybe 18 months of sales of a particular story it is broadcast on BBC Radio 4.

The first of the 9th Doctor, Christopher Eccleston stories is now on sale. Here he is answering some emailed questions. He pointedly states that at Big Finish he is comfortable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi_HO6SrwSA

At the end of the next television series there will be a new Doctor. I would like it to be Christopher Eccleston again, science fiction can cope with that. Maybe there are now not many of the upper echelons of the staff from 2005 that so irked Eccleston. But it is highly unlikely to happen. Eccleston is not the right person to put up with this Chibnall utter garbage. The standard of the Big Finish audio scripts puts Chibnall's dreadful control of the television version into its rightful place, the bin.
