We had a massive let-off when they missed a sitter inside 70 seconds but we've been okay since. A lovely goal straight after their red card and surely, surely we're looking good here...

1-0 is never a comfortable lead, but after the early scare from the free kick we gave them very few opportunities. The commentary team were lamenting our failure to try to score more. but the result tonight was everything. We got the points away from home on a pitch which has never favoured us. Job done.

Yes...it's a results business at the best of times but now more than ever. I often complain when we're leading we get into bother because we dither between holding out and going to kill it, well there was no doubt we picked one today. We'd have got crucified had we blown it - but we didn't.

We've now lost one in eight, a record which would have been stuff of fantasy after the Accies/St J debacle. Alexander has more than done the first job required.

The concern is that this is how he will try to build over summer. If he does then it's Robinson 2017/18 all over again - grudgingly accepted when it works and facing the sack the second it doesn't.

There's no point in panicking over such a 'what if' question right now but it probably explains why many people, myself included, are either jury's out or only cautiously content with GA as on paper his points record is pretty impressive.
