It was interesting his interview on the zone he said he didn't celebrate too much the first goal because he says he is frustrated that he hasn't been doing it more often. So I think he is fully aware about playing better.

Shanks is our best forward. Our own fault not giving him enough service this season but he has still contributed a lot in goals and general work rate. The goal at Rossco was very important in what it meant for our season.

McNulty has definite quality but sometimes his work rate is not good enough. Loses the ball and then stops working. Also he had a phase of kicking the ball away needlessly and getting booked. Overall he’s frustrating and I’m not sure he is the best foil for shanks.

That said very happy when he does show his undoubted quality like yesterday and brings us goals.

As said above if he helps us lift the cup he will be a hero as will every other player involved.

    Come on United !!

I think Mcnulty is a decent player. Has a bit of pace about him which we lack almost all over. The pitch was excellent yesterday fair play to the SSB's for that.

When we play this line/formation it relies on the midfield turning up and too often this season with a midfield that included Harkes and Clark weve looked overrun and outnumbered in there to the point its like playing with 9 men because these 2 just dont offer enough. Hopefully it was a sign of things to come.

100% the midfield turned up on sunday and harkes had his best game for us. Fuchs has been out of sorts for a bit but he was tenacious on sunday. Clarks deliveries are excellent feels sorry for him playing out of position but hell that was some show on sunday

Agree mate. I think it was as simple as the fact he was playing in his natural position. Scoring form the right side 1st half and left 2nd side. The freedom he had to roam in the final 3rd suited his game.

100% the midfield turned up against the Sheep. Couple of things that helped though. Firstly, the defence was much higher than normal - look where Reynolds received the ball to set up Fuchs as a good example. More importantly though the pressing from the forwards was coordinated and sharp. That allowed the midfield to take absolute control of the game.

That forward press has not been as coordinated before, often down to McNulty in the main not doing his part (hence laziness criticism) or Sporle being out of shape.

Shankland was very good. Disagree that it is the team letting him down this season. Often been too easy to mark, stuck to the last defender and only looking to run in behind. Against the Sheep his movement was much better. Came towards the ball, linked better with Clark and McNulty because of that and created huge amount of space for us to exploit. Hobban and Considine had no idea what to do with him. Was his best game of the season and hopefully he will get his rewards in terms of more goals over the rest of the season.
