I’ve given this more thought in regards to Buckles the dumb f u c k.

To make the bumbling senior officer the “fourth man/H” is actually a quite brilliant idea.

It nearly worked but the final interrogation scene wasn’t as well crafted as in previous series.

They missed an opportunity to do something similar to a very good film with Edward Norton and Richard Gere a few years ago where Gere plays a lawyer trying to get Norton’s character ( a simple guy with a stutter ) off a murder charge.

Only when Norton was finally alone with Gere did he suddenly admit his guilt by ridiculing his supposed stammer.

I think that a crafted moment alone with just Buckles and Hastings with Buckles suddenly giving his......”well I fooled you lot but prove it” would’ve had infinitely more power and lead us well into another series.

Buckles nearly pulled it off but was stymied by a poor script and set up.

There have been a few comments by people supposedly in the know, that another series is coming. I have started watching them all again, currently at series two episode three, I think that the arch villain is Kate, a very duplicitous character!

Err yes uncle Mick, he/Buckels is indeed a dumb f*k lol.
One little scene that interested me though was his smirk at the end, when we saw him locked up. Was he really as dumb and incompetent as we were led to believe ?.

Primal Fear is that movie Mick - for anyone who hasn't seen it, although now an oldie it is brilliant.
