There was a time when they wanted to be coloured & not black. You can't win sometimes no matter how politically correct you try to be in life.

There's more to it than what was going down between Ross and Enzio.

The other players involved could have said to Ross, "Look, what you said made us feel uncomfortable, you can't say things like that mate, it puts us in an awkward position" and hoped he'd get the message, give him a 2nd chance and not upset Enzio with it.

That they did decide to tell Enzio, whilst almost certainly knowing that there was a high probability that it would finish Ross's career at Notts, suggests that Ross was not at all a popular man in the dressing room, or at least strongly disliked by enough of them to the point that it was impacting on their performances and our results.

Yesterday's display would seem to back that theory up. They played like they had a point to prove.

It'll take more than one match though to prove that they were right about his ability to coach and that Ross was wrong to question their desire to challenge for play-off glory.

Was their really a time ‘they’ wanted to be classified a particular colour or generalised as coloured?

I think you are probably right . In a united dressing room , there may well have been( and should have been) very heavy censure, deserved apologies, and warnings, and a collective rolling up of sleeves. The Sutton performance speaks volumes, so maybe fate intervened on our side in the end.

Ten out of ten for this. However despite him obviously saying something totally out of line you have to wonder if he had deliberately ruffled the feathers in a "good cop bad cop" type scenario with him and IB. Obviously his style is very very different to Mr Ardley. Not sure about Mr Abbott as his style just seemed to be rubbish. If they did play like they had a point to prove then they have all let themselves down very badly this season that I will say as they are clearly much better than the sum of their parts as they proved on tuesday. More of the same please first team!

Seems like a reasonable scenario. The players celebrating with Enzio certainly tell a story.

At best, the comment was monumentally crass. If yesterday’s performance was what happens when we have Doyle instead of Ross as AM then it might turn out to be the best monumentally crass statement ever made.

Makes you wonder what position some of the 70's managers would have been in.

Judging by what was actually said, Ross has done more than could have been expected by resigning. He should have given a big fat apology and let it die death and we all move on.
A racist comment never in a million years a poor joke yes.
Personally I think we have got rid of the wrong person as it seems that Ross actually cares about the club and how we are performing, where as the other might just be accused of happy of picking up his wages.
Criticising players because they aren't doing there job or having a poor game is fair enough by me and by most fans I would believe.
Imagine what would have been said if he had been dropped from the squad altogether for the Tuesday game.
The way Enzio has gone about this whole episode shows poor character, If he was offended then he should have had a man to man chat and maybe they could have uncovered why he was perhaps having a poor game with lack of movement and mobility.
Maybe he could have learned something from the criticism (even if it was a poor analogy) and worked on it in training.
The sooner his contract is up and he leaves the better , maybe his attitude and fragile character is why he is only half the player he could and should be.
PS what are they going to do in training or match day when Doyle swears at one of them and gives them some home truths ?
