Doyle is Assistant until season's end

    From the club's Twitter...

"Club captain Michael Doyle has agreed to assist Ian Burchnall with coaching duties until the end of the 2020-21 season."

Sort of expected but a good choice. I do like the idea of a player/assistant manager, makes it feel like they are more involved.

Is the correct decision for multiple reasons.

Yep. Not rushing into replacing Ross is very wise. Hopefully they can reassess at season's end.

Sensible move, who knows could be longer term if it works.

Also suggests there’s no rift between the players and IB after what’s happened as you get the sense he’s very much the dressing room leader.

Indeed. If Doyle has managerial or coaching aspirations of his own this would be a very sensible way to put a toe in the water and perhaps make the transition permanent from next season as an official player/assistant.

It also forms a great communication bridge between IB and the players.

This is excellent news as I was worried about the players and IB maybe falling out and him leaving but sounds encouraging.

The man has been associated with mainly failure since his arrival.

Let’s hope his luck changes in the new role.

Good decision, but if he's assistant manager does that mean he won't drop himself...

Pleased at this, at least it suggests there is some unity between management and players.
