A very exciting and spectacular game at the time given that we came back from 6-2 down to get a point. In reality though that was a game that we needed to win at the time and only managed to scrape a draw thanks to some truly woeful defending and a missed penalty (surprise, surprise) at a key time.

I find it pretty pathetic that so many Motherwell fans like to 'celebrate' this game as if it were a substantial achievement when it was nothing of the sort.

It makes it all the more galling that we look back on the 'anniversary' of this game along with the 30 year anniversary of the last time we won silverware whilst there are four clubs who are in with a chance of winning at least their second major honour since we last won a trophy.

You've been on the gin again then I see !? Fitbaw's all about the 'unforeseen' actually happening. I for one left at 2-6, traipsed down with my jaw dragging on the pavement to JD's. And, 20 mins later I was dancin on the tables with about 20 other die-hards as that absolute 'worldy' of a strike rested in Hibees goal-net.

I enjoyed it at the time too and stayed to the bitter end. When Jutkiewicz scored the 6th goal it was a wild and brilliant moment but on reflection it wasn’t that great a result. We drew a match that we needed to and should have won. Had Murphy converted the penalty at 5-6 and we went on to win the game then I would probably look back on it differently but as it is, it was just an entertaining high scoring draw.

Yes, Forbes' penalty was saved in the 86th minute.

That’s right so he did. I must have been thinking of Murphy’s missed penalty against Odense a few months later at that same end.

And had he scored it, I very much doubt we'd have gone on to win 7-6 anyway.

Agreed ! I'm sure Craigan's arse, elbow, shin or nose would've gifted them an OG with the last attack of the game !!
