    Matt Le Tissier

Just watched a few clips on the tube of Le God. What a player he was!

People say he lacked ambition, but for me it's admirable that he stayed with Southampton. He will always be remembered there, so nevermind the trophies.

Same with Shearer. A trophy with NUFC would have been the icing on the cake, but he joined our club to be with us, knowing that at Man Utd he would win a lot more, and for that he will always be remembered.

Both great players and legends of their time.

Yes Hughie, and unfortunately he always seemed to keep his best displays for when he played against us.

Had he played for us he would have been hailed as a god along with K.K., Big Al and other heroes.

Correct, Ex_Pat - he scored some beautiful ones against us! The chip from 40 yards out over Tim Flowers in the Blackburn goal is also memorable.

He could easily have earned more money and won trophies as the bigger clubs were after him, but he wanted to stay at his favourite club. Even if it was also the more comfortable choice to stay put, he also said no to a lot of glory and yes to years of relegation battles. Respect.

I think also as well as supporting Southampton as a lad, being from the Channel Islands and also being a "home bird" it was easy for him to return home to his beloved islands from the south coast.
