    Championship Clubs this Season

Looking at the Championship clubs this season & their final league position.

01 Champions Norwich City - Showed they were a class side in the league, a good squad,
...... with players in different areas who could score goals, with + 39 goals & 97pts.
02 Watford - Who have had a bucket full of managers, were the dark horses, who played
..... good football, & had players who could score goals, worthy runners up, +33 gls & 91pts.

03 Brentford - In the play-offs, a good footballing side, had a minor blip, which allowed
..... Watford to take up the mantle, but Brentford deserved their play off place, with the
..... football they play, having a goal scorer in Ivan Toney. + 37 goals & 87 points
04 Swansea City - Had games in hand, but slipped up, very lucky with referee decisions
..... this season, a team with good football, in the play-offs. +17 goals & 80 points
05 Barnsley - A big turn around from last season, have some quality players in the squad,
    ..... signed a player on-loan, who is scoring goals, in the play-offs. +8 goals & 78 points.
06 Bournemouth - They have quality players, changed manager this season, they are a
..... team who can get goals, when it matters, play-offs. +27 goals & 77 points.

    <><> Play-offs - Brentford v Bournemouth & Swansea v Barnsley <><>

07 Reading - Been on hot & cold this season, problems off the pitch. + 8 goals & 70 points
08 Cardiff City - Big Mick McCarthy came in has manager, turned the team around, with
..... a good run, but run out of steam. +17 goals & 68 points
09 Queens Park Rangers - The most improved side in the league, after being in the
..... relegation zone, good end of season run. + 2 goals & 68 points.
10 Middlesbrough - Footballs Mr Neil Warnock in charge, you know that it will be a bumpy
    ..... ride, just didn't have the quality to mount a challenge. + 2 & 64 points
11 Millwall - Had a decent season, mid table team. minus 5 goals & 62 points
12 Luton Town - Held their own in the league. minus 11 goals & 62 points
13 Preston-North-End - Sacked their manager, signed & sold players in the January transfer
..... window, releasing a lot of young players, other clubs signing them, care-taker manager
..... in at the moment, strange situation with the young players. minus 7 goals & 61 points
    14 Stoke City - Played below expectations. minus 2 & 60 points
15 Blackburn Rovers - Have a forward Adam Armstrong who scores goals, plus had a
..... loan player in Harvey Elliott scoring, mid table team. + 11 goals & 57 points
16 Coventry City - Done well this season, Mark Robins done a good job, in keeping them
..... in the championship, back to their home ground next season. minus 12 points & 55 points.
17 Notts Forest - Courted the relegation zone, good manager Chris Hughton. minus 8 gls & 52 pts.
18 Birmingham City - Changed the manager, Lee Bowyer came in, brought them back from
..... the brink of relegation. minus 24 & 52 points.
19 Bristol City - A team that has been well short of expectations this season, brought Nigel
..... Pearson in has manager, not much success. minus 22 goals & 51 points.
20 Huddersfield Town - Changed manager, poor season. minus 21 goals & 49 points.

21 Derby County - A team with on & off the field problems, with the EFL looking at different
..... rules issues, but not having the guts to implement them. different takeover offers,
..... one gone, & the next looks like going up in a puff of smoke. Fetching Wayne Rooney
..... in, used him & his name, to get players in, scrambled to safety on the last day of the
..... season. Lucky to stay in the championship. minus 22 & 44 points.

    <><> Relegated <><>

22 Wycombe Wanderers - A team who brought a breath of fresh air to the league, with a
..... manager in Ainsworth, who managed his team, with fire & guts, with a small budget,
..... Wycombe Wanderers did themselves proud. minus 30 goals & 43 points.
23 Rotherham United - A team who had not learned lessons from the last time in the
.....championship, in not adding to their squad this season, especially at left back, which
..... teams saw the teams achilles heel, poor tactics & substitutions played a key in losing
..... points. What ever the budget this season, it did not keep the team in a higher league.
..... The club needs someone with football knowledge in the boardroom. minus 16 gls 42pts.
24 Sheffield Wednesday - A team that has major problems, mainly off the field, seems
..... the owner has no knowledge of football, & has let the club spiral down the league.
......Been said quite a few players leaving this season. minus 21 goals & 41 points.

<> Note - Still waiting for the EFL appeal regarding Derby County, to the Independent
..... Panel, & what the outcome is, hopefully they will be found guilty.
<> Derby County ought to have at least 3 points taken off them, implemented now, this
..... would put them on 41 points, this then would mean Wycombe Wanderers stay in the
..... championship. Will this happen, proberly Not.

Looking at that analysis we should have ended up with more points than we did.

Very harsh on us. Why all the praise for Wycombe, but damning on us? We are the same size club. We haven't got much more money than them. A little patronizing.

I think Wycombe Wanderers deserved praise, first time in the championship, unlike the Millers have been here before,
done it, got the t-shirt, but not learnt by the mistakes in the past.

Well said, Eric. If we didn't have a poodle press in Rotherham we might get a few answers to questions on manager departures, recruitment, selection, substitutions, disease control, training methods and why players go out for peanuts and marquee signings that idiot Warne has wanted for years (apparently) end up being shipped out on loan or never getting a game.

Wycombe Wanderers taking legal action, wants backing by the chairmen of the championship.
I think Wycombe have been reading my posts regarding Derby County
