Let's be clear, OUR coaches have improved Smith's abilities considerably and deserve credit for that. He arrived here as an unknown Bury reserve and there was a lot of negative comment on this board at the time.
He has worked tirelessly for us at both ends of the pitch and deserves to move on to better things if the opportunity comes.
If he does go to Boro, the man who may well take him to the next level is Ronnie Jepson who specialises in coaching strikers but uncle Colin will probably also use Smith's strengths in a different way and make him a really threatening striker at Championship level.
With this in mind we should be able to command a fee of £2 million minimum with appropriate add ons or maybe a player exchange.
Whatever happens I wish him every success because, although he may have missed a few decent chances for us, no-one can ever say he didn't give everything when wearing a Millers shirt.
