    One Off Greats in Sport

After watching the brilliant documentary Gods Of Snooker Alex Higgins was certainly a one off great. Some may come close but these one offs can never ever be bettered. I think most on here have lived in an era of witnessing some truly brilliant geniuses in their sport which may never be repeated. Higgins in snooker, Botham in cricket. There are plenty more.

    Robin Cousins the ice skater.

    Franz Klammer downhill skier.

    Eric Bristow darts.

    Paula Radcliffe in the marathon.

    Usain Bolt.

    Seb Coe.

Ronnie O’Sullivan - better than Higgins with left or right hand.

Darcy Ward the Aussie Speedway rider sadly crippled at 23.

Tom Brady the NFL quarterback with 7 Super Bowl wins.

    Ayrton Senna.

    Barry Sheene.

Often these geniuses got me watching sports I’ve never really been interested in.

    Seen a few live

George Best many times . Match at OT scored 2 v us one a superb header other a mazy dribble sticks in the memory 50 years later.

Botham. Edgbaston 1981 Ashes 5 wickets for 1 run. Benaud said 'the crowd went berserk.' Greatest 1 off performance at the top level I've ever seen.

Piggott. Saw him win the Derby aged 48 on Teneeso

    McEnroe at Wimbledon.

Higgins v White albeit only in an exhibition match.

Muhammad Ali on a visit to Birmingham late 70's.

Federer. Amazing player. Looked a cut above at 16 and has been written off as too old for the last 10 years and he still got back to number one and wins major tournaments. (Often quoted by Tennis trainers for how to move on court. effortless)
