Chesterfield lose at Notts County 3-2 , losing to an injury time goal having twice being in the lead.
Notts now advance to play Torquay United at Plainmoor next Saturday for the right to play in the final at Ashton Gate two weeks today.
Hartlepool host Bromley tomorrow in the other half of the play offs, and the winner visits Stockport County next week for the right to play at Ashton Gate.
Attendance 4,500
When Janes Rowe came in and took over Chesterfield this season, they were 3rd off the bottom of the table. He moved more than 10 players out and replaced them and it all began to grow dividends. To get them up to 6th from when he first took over was a monumental effort, shame it had to end for them like it did. Get some money on them next season for auto promotion......you heard it here first.
No doubting the impact he had. The only doubts Id have are:
Can Chesterfield keep hold of Rowe, the manager?
The results became skewed in that division once the league decided not to relegate. The bottom half of the division virtually stopped playing.
There are several clubs who can massively outspend chesterfield in that league. Chesterfield are pretty much Trust owned. A good model but they won't be splashing the cash. Unlike wrexham, for example.
Don't know if anybody mentioned it, but ex-Miller Richard Brindley plays for Notts County,
I thought he was a decent right back with the Millers.
But Bradley & loan player James Tavernier were with the Millers, so Brindley was let go.
I saw that. I see Gavin Gunning was in the Chesterfield team too. You will recall Gavin was on loan with us from Blackburn in 2010 and played in our play off final defeat v Dagenham.
I have only just seen that there was another 3-2 in the other play off game where Hartlepool raced into a 3-0 lead inside 25 minutes at home to Bromley.
Hartlepool will now visit Stockport County for a chance to play against either Torquay United or Notts County in the final on 19th June at Ashton Gate.
All ex league clubs competing. It was good to see another newbie team (Sutton) win promotion though.
Torquay 4-2 Notts County
they meet the Winners of Stockport vs Hartlepool for a place back in L2
Hartlepool win 1-0 at Stockport to seal a final place at Ashton Gate next weekend against Torquay who beat Notts County 4-2 after extra time yesterday.
Unbelievable Jeff.
