I was just reading that a player (Maupay of Brighton) has been fined £25,000 by the FA, probably a weeks wages, maybe less. What I wondered, though, is whether such fines can be offset against tax? Of course, fines imposed by a court of law cannot be offset against tax but do the FA fines fall into the same category? If they can be offset, it would make them pretty paltry. Anyone know?
