Leeds signing Allan Clarke from us, in 1980

Hey lads (and yes Im asking you especially here Hopey kid, cos you do always reply to me don't you lol).

Woww, Clarkie coming back ehh in 1980, was he really the one you all wanted at that time. Especially as it seems you were all peed off with Jimmy Adamson-Out!.

He'd had a good first few years with us in the late 70s as a player-manager, and he brought us up from the 4th Division of course which we won't ever forget (although that was a few years before my time as a Tykes fan!).

But after watching these brilliant 'Wilderness years' vids on youtube, Im guessing that some fans wanted and expected a lot better than Clarkie. And that he never was good enough in the 2 years actually ?.

    Hey Orgs.
I take it he never hit it off in the managerial role ?.
I agree with the idea of results count before entertainment, especially if the team are struggling etc. But Im amazed at some of the critical stuff he came out with.
Like saying sections of your fans were animals and he wanted to volunteer to whip them on the pitch before every match!!.

Yes but he wasn't like that for us, and neither was Norman.

Snowflakes now, snowflakes then. Develop a spine and a pair, then come back and give us some grief.

Alf, I have repeatedly told you till I am blue in the face...the Dirty Leeds tag was born from the Southern Softy newspapers cos we were not afraid to tackle and take the ball.

And I remind you yet again that there were clubs who had real dirty players for example Chopper Harris at Chelsea.
