    What’s going on...and why?

So...well over three weeks now since that 3-3 draw that kept us up and almost as long since we were discovered, at the second attempt, to have broken some rule or other and likely to pay another sort of penalty as a result.

Why then the delay? The DT continues to blather on about possible signings, Wayne’s ‘plan’ and the future being ‘bright’ for Derby County...but what’s the point? It’s all meaningless. Who’d join Derby with things as they are at the moment?

Conspiracy theories aside (everybody hates us!)...surely this can now be resolved and we must be allowed to move on without yet another wrecked closed season. If not...why not?

Why not? Cos they hate us and have had a down on us for Mel's messing them about on things like TV contracts and getting proven right as well?

Why the delay? The Disciplinary Committee hasn't yet set a date for the sentencing hearing. It will be interesting to see if they make allowances for the EFL's undoubted complicity in it. Why did it take them 4 years to decide that the new amortisation method we told them about was against the rules in some way?

The fallout of that decision is that we now have to rejig the accounts of as many as 6 seasons from 15/16 to 20/21. That may well produce figures that exceed the FFP limitations on one or more rolling 3 year period over those 6 seasons. Par for the course is a 12 point deduction. If they find us guilty on 4 successive rolling periods, for instance, would that be a 48 point penalty? How many points will the EFL get deducted for their part.........?

Hopefully, Rooney will have more than one plan in effect. One based on having a few bob from either Mel or a new owner. Another based on his warchest being as sizeable as a pinhead. Hopefully, one or two in between scenarios as well. Also hopefully, he has some kind of idea of what his available resources are and is currently in discussions with clubs/players on frees and on frugal fees of probably no more than £3M unless he sells some or we get a share of the rumoured Bogle to Norwich move. Emphasis on HOPE.....

That’s kind of my point though, MA.

It’s hopefully this...and hopefully that, none of which helps anyone and one has to ask, not just from our point of view (although tbh that’s all I’m bothered about)...this has now been rumbling around in one form or another for approaching two years...are the EFL fit for purpose?

I read somewhere from a reliable source that any pts deduction would apply to next season, because its too late to change the fixtures for next season. Plus Derby would appeal any such sanction and the consequent legal action would take months to resolve.

More worrying is who will own the club, given that Mel clearly isn't up for doing much more than maintaining the club so will be reluctant to fund major transfers.

That bull**** the Daily fail talked about the £8 million owed to Cocu and team is nothing out of the ordinary - sacked managers and coaches get their contract paid as usual (unless a final compensation sum is agreed at the time) until the end of the contract or they get another job.

Of course we shelled out £2.5 million pointlessly to Keogh, when we could actually have had him playing for us this season, but hey that along with the clear financial mismanagement is just Mel's legacy.

Don’t think there’s ever been much doubt about a points deduction/transfer embargo being for next, rather than last, season, but surely the two - Morris’ ownership and the potential punishment(s) - are entirely related in so much as so long as there are doubts about the likely punishment (if any) then it makes Morris’ task of off loading the club that much harder.

The two potential buyers we are meant to have been won over by so far appear to have had little, if any, credibility, but for us to move on at all, from incoming signings, outgoing transfers to potential buyers for the club everyone needs to know where DCFC stand. Until that’s known, progress of any description seems as unlikely as those in power showing anything approaching any degree of urgency.

Maybe...that’s certainly the Derby ‘take’, but those in Rotherham and Wycombe feel equally sure we’ve got away with things at their expense because we’re a ‘big club’.
I’m sure we’d all just like a summer ‘build’ that isn’t messed up by a) an incoming celebrity manager’s TV commitments... b) an outgoing celebrity manager taking forever to decide whether to leave or not...c) accusations of financial wrongdoings/pandemic...d) continued accusations of financial wrongdoing and failed takeovers...because that’s the last four summers for DCFC, and the ditherings of the EFL aren’t helping.

I think you might be wrong on b)

Wasn't it more that the Chelsea job became available and they simply worked their way, methodically, through their "wanted" list and got nothing but setbacks until they finally got down to Frank's name and, when asked, he said yes?

Possibly...probably even...you may well be right...but the outcome was/is the same. This will be the fourth consecutive summer to have been screwed by off pitch antics of one sort or another. In all that time I think (the three 2018 loanees apart) we’ve made one decent signing and sadly he appears to be built from the same materials as George Thorne. No wonder we are where we are, it has to change.
